HISTORIC NBA SHOCKER IN DALLAS:
Luka Dončić leads Mavs improbable comeback over Knicks with historic Triple Double in 126-121 OT Win.
What if I told you…. “It’s not over till it’s over.” History was made Tuesday Night in Arlington, Texas, as Luka Dončić
and the Dallas Mavericks (19-16) did what no NBA team has ever done before. All 13,884 NBA teams that have trailed by at least nine points with 35 seconds or fewer remaining have gone on to lose the game, according to ESPN. That record become 1-13,884, as the 23-year-old NBA Superstar recorded a career-high 60 points and a career-high 21 rebounds to go with 10 assists, helping the Mavericks come back from a 112-103 deficit to force overtime and an eventual 126-121 win for the Mavericks.
In what was a massive, I REPEAT, massive bad beat for Knicks +4.5 bettors last night………………….
(Me being one of them of course)
The Slovenian star scored 10 of his 60 points in the final minute of regulation time. The New York Knicks (18-17), who were looking to end a 3 game skid, had multiple opportunities to pony this game away and put an end to the Mavs 4 game winning streak. After a foul on Dončić by Quentin Grimes
, in the dramatic final play, Dončić intentionally missed a free throw, had the ball come off the rim, bounced off multiple Knicks defenders only to end up in Luka’s hands who scored the put back jumper to tie the game and force overtime.
The Knicks were shocked, dismayed, amazed, stunned, appalled and even found aghast like the writer of this article as Dončić was able to then add seven more points in overtime and pull off the most improbable of wins and send the Knicks back to New York wondering what the fuck just happened. Did we get Luka’d?
Or did we get Dončić’d?
After the game, all eyes were on the Slovenian international Superstar who had one of the craziest stat lines in NBA HISTORY.
60 points
21 rebounds
10 assists
Dončić made history by joining James Harden
as the only other player in NBA history to score a 60-point triple-double, and also becomes just the sixth player to record six or more 40-point triple-doubles after Oscar Robertson, Harden, Russell Westbrook, Wilt Chamberlain and LeBron James.
Dončić's 60 points also set a new franchise scoring record for Dallas, overtaking the 53 points scored by Dirk Nowitzki
in 2024. Days after the Mavs enshrined a Statue of Dirk right outside American Airlines Arena.
Dončić's performance against the Knicks on Tuesday was nothing short of magical. And it’s truly incredible what Luka has brought to This League. A 23 year old, 6’7” point guard with the ability to make every pass, every shot and all his teammates better around him.
I’m guessing they left some space next to Dirk for what feels to be another statue in the making of a European hooper getting ready to be built in Dallas.
